This program is open to Durham Public Schools.
The largest segment of our agenda begins with a brief overview of the Internet and how people interact with it. Students will then divide into groups for a basic hands-on networking lab. The lab activity demonstrates how Internet Protocol (IP) packets are routed across the Internet, thus sending content and information to a user. They will also troubleshoot and resolve a real world network issue, using the same concepts employed by MCNC’s Network Operations Center (NOC). Students are also expected to hear about the latest in cybersecurity protections.
Students will tour MCNC's facility.
The agenda subject to change based on staff availability.
Our capacity is 20 students and 4 adults (even though the capacity of the app does not allow us to input a specific number).
Our program will run approximately 8:30 AM.-12:30 PM. Time will be confirmed at a later date.
We expect to host the group the week of March 23. The date will not be firm until late November.
Lunch is included.
Directions to our facility are located here: https://www.mcnc.org/directions. We will convene in Building 3.
