Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST)

PROVIDED BY: Haven House

Description

An evidence-based treatment model that partners with youth and their families to strengthen the family unit. Youth in MST often demonstrate evidence of emotional disturbances, substance abuse, and/or aggressive/anti-social behaviors. Services are provided in the home and take place multiple times a week.

Youth are solely referred by the Wake County Juvenile court system for this program. The assessment will result in a recommendation for services that will target needs that have led to the youth’s involvement with the legal system.  This program will facilitate the linking of youth to the recommended services in the community. The Juvenile Assessment Team also conducts psychoeducational substance abuse groups in the Wake County Detention Center utilizing a Brief Seven Challenges model of treatment. Staff with the Juvenile Assessment Team work out of the Wake County Courthouse and Cabarrus Street office.
