Dr. Jared Heffron is an industrial microbiologist with Novozymes where he has helped to develop bacterial solutions for household cleaning products, animal feed, and seed treatments for the past 7 years. He has experience with infectious disease research from his Ph.D. work at VA Tech, and a postdoctoral fellowship at the US Army biodefense laboratory (USAMRIID). His infectious disease expertise is with the bacterium that causes anthrax. Dr. Heffron is also active in the education field. He was a science teaching fellow with the American Society for Microbiology and currently volunteers with the Novozymes Inspire Team that performs education outreach about microbiology to students ranging from pre-K through university. Exploring and communicating about the wonder of the microscopic world all around us is Dr. Heffron's passion.
