2021 Students@Work Health Care Day

General Program Overview

WakeMed, UNC Lenoir Health Care and Vidant Health are pleased to offer a coordinated 2021 Virtual Students@Work Health Care Day for middle school students from throughout North Carolina. The event will feature five live 55-minute sessions from 9am-3pm on Wednesday, March 3. A break for lunch will be taken from Noon-1pm.

Each session will expose students to 1-3 types of careers or career settings that can be found within any hospital. Students are welcome to participate in as many sessions as they would like. While we would like for as many students as possible to benefit from the live presentations, a recording of the sessions will be available after March 3 so that registered students can go back and watch them later.

The topics will include the following.

• Vidant Health (Each topic is a separate session.)
• Maynard Children’s Hospital
• EastCare (includes EMT, Paramedics, Communications and Flight Nursing)
• Rehab
• UNC Lenoir Health Care - Lab, Radiology and Outpatient Physical Therapy
• WakeMed – Pharmacy and Medical Simulation

Each virtual session is listed as a separate resource within Navigator. To select specific sessions, find each of the health care providers listed above among the Students@Work resources and choose the sessions individually that you would like for your students to have the option of attending.

To make the request, click March 3rd on the calendar below and then click on submit. Once you select a session, more information will be sent to you regarding the details of the presentation and how to have your students register for each one.

Specific Session Overview

The live session associated with this resource will focus on Vidant EastCare and will be presented by Vidant Health. During this presentation, students will learn about EMT, EMTP, Communications and Flight Nursing. It will take place from 10:00 a.m. – 10:55 a.m. on March 3.
